Pay Rate: $21.25 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position provides ultimate hospitality for guests while recommending wine varieties to our guests ensuring all laws and regulations with respect to the safe and responsible service of alcoholic beverages are strictly adhered to and by performing the following duties, as well as demonstrating the GILA WAY.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Promotes and provides excellent guest service experiences to both internal and external guests.
  • Assist with overseeing an expanded wine program with 25-30% more inventory of bottles and by the glass options.
  • Sell lesser-known wines to guests by displaying knowledge, professionalism, and the ability to make a guest feel comfortable with their decision.
  • Answers questions posed by guests regarding bottle and/or by the glass options.
  • Maintains knowledge of wine and beverage service offerings or special menu items offered.
  • Schedule training with the team prior to service. Keep current with wine and beverage service.
  • Notify supervisor and/or Security of all unusual events, circumstances, missing items, and/or alleged thefts.  Notify manage on duty of any guest concerns or disputes that cannot be readily resolved.
  • Anticipates guests needs and completes all steps of service as assigned.
  • Provides quick, attentive, friendly and professional service to guests while communicating in a clear and concise manner.
  • Accurately records all sales in the POS system.
  • Ensures the quality and presentation meet or exceed the expectations of the guests.
  • Maintains sanitation, health and safety standards as necessary.
  • Performs proper bar top maintenance as needed.
  • Knowledge of wine and beverage service, Title IV regulations, cost control, labor control, and accounting; will assist in ordering, inventory, stocking, and par maintenance.
  • Maintains a professional and tidy appearance at all times.
  • Communicates in a positive, respectful manner to both internal and external guests.
  • Maintains compliance with all Arizona State Liquor Laws Title 4, and Gila River Indian Community Alcohol Beverage Ordinances.
  • Maintains a dependable work attendance record with extremely infrequent absences and/or lateness.
  • Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

This position currently has no supervisor responsibilities.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

1.      High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

2.      Experience as a sommelier, wine steward, or in a hospitality role required.

3.      Extensive knowledge on wines and regions of the different types preferred.

4.      Knowledge of vineyards and wineries and an understanding of the wine making process.

5.      Ability to perform the GILA WAY which is as follows;

   Greet our guest

   Interact positively with guest

   Listen actively to our guest

   Appreciate our guest

6.    Must acquire and maintain a valid Gila River Environmental Health Food Handlers Card, Alcohol Awareness Certification, Blood-Borne Pathogens (BBP) and other required compliance trainings.

7.      Must possess excellent guest service skills, strong telephone etiquette, a self-starter with the ability to follow-up and complete tasks in a timely manner with minimum supervision.

8.   Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as well as to gain the cooperation of guest and fellow team members.

9.      Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.

This position must have, or an ability to acquire within one year, an in-depth knowledge and thorough understanding of Enterprise Policies and Procedures, governmental regulations and technical rules relevant to their responsibilities
